Naturalization Attorney In Orlando, Florida
What Do I Need To Do To Apply For U.S. Citizenship?
If you have held a green card for at least five years, you may be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship through the naturalization process. If you are married to a U.S. citizen, you may qualify after only three years. To apply, you must also meet additional requirements, including continuous residence in the United States for the required period, proof of good moral character, and basic knowledge of the English language, U.S. history, and how the government operates.
Achieving citizenship grants you nearly all the same rights as individuals who were born in the United States, offering greater security and stability for you and your family. Attorney Rachelle R. What Will Happen at My Interview?
You will need to bring your green card and a state ID or driver’s license to your naturalization interview so the officer can verify your identity. During the interview, a USCIS officer will go through the answers you provided on your N-400 application and ask you to confirm that everything is still accurate. If any details have changed since you filed, you will need to explain those updates and provide documentation when necessary.
After reviewing your application, the officer will conduct the English and civics portions of the interview. You will be asked to read one sentence in English and write another that the officer dictates. You will then answer a set of civics questions about U.S. history and government—out of ten questions asked, you must answer at least six correctly to pass.
Although the process may feel intimidating, proper preparation can make it much more manageable. Attorney Rachelle R. Grand-Pierre, Esq. helps clients understand what to expect, review common questions, and approach the interview with confidence. With the right guidance, you can move through this final step with clarity and peace of mind.
